Winnipeg has been chosen as the location for the 2012 MCCofC convention. We, the convention committee, would like to extend an invitation to all members to come and see us. The convention will be held August 17, 18, 19, 2012. You may have heard rumors that it would be on the long weekend. That possibility was explored but had to be abandoned because facilities were not available for those dates. The displays and bourse will be at the Sunova Centre and the banquet and breakfast will be at the CanadInns Garden City. The hotel features several room options, restaurant, gaming lounge, bar, pool, and waterslide. We have been offered a significant discount on the standard room rate if members indicate that they are booking for the convention.
The convention will follow the format of setup on Friday with an “meet & greet” to follow. Saturday and Sunday we will be open to the public. The banquet will be Saturday evening and there will be a breakfast with fun auction on Sunday morning. The Friday evening “meet & greet” will be held at the historic Minto Armouries. The Royal Winnipeg Rifles will have one of their messes open and the regimental museum will also be open. We hope to see you here so don’t forget to mark those dates on your calendar.
